Normal: When UPS is running under normal circumstances.

Battery: Is when there is no AC input (out of power), so battery provides back up power to the equipments attached to UPS.

Buck: When UPS experiences sudden energy injections, it will regulate the power to be as normal.

Boost: When UPS experiences sudden drop in energy, it will regulate the power to be as normal.
